Moms hold a lot of responsibilities each and every day. Many times, we can start to feel like we’re losing parts of ourselves little by little. This might also feel like losing your youth along with it. When did we become the grownup in the room? Who put us in charge? I know most days it feels like I can barely make decisions for myself let alone for anyone else. It’s time to tap into your younger self, the one who used to play and have fun without a care in the world. Here are five throwback self care ideas to help you reconnect with your younger side and let loose a little bit.


Arts and Crafts


Doing some simple arts and crafts can get you back in touch with your younger self. Grab the crayons and a big coloring book or pull out the box of chunky beads to make some friendship bracelets. Choosing a simple project that doesn’t take a lot of time to complete can leave you feeling relaxed and accomplished. 


Get Rollin’ 


Remember the feeling of freedom while speeding down your street with the wind in your hair? Hop on your bike or put on your skates or blades and find that feeling once again. Getting outside is always a great way to refresh your mood and doing something active will help boost your endorphins. Tapping into activities you used to do when you were younger reminds you that you are still young at heart.

Who says that toys are just for kids? There’s nothing more relaxing than building an adult Lego set or working on building a jigsaw puzzle. These types of activities can help soothe your nervous system while also giving your brain something to work on. Plus, seeing the end result is oh so satisfying!

Remember sitting in your room listening to music without a care in the world? Reading the lyrics out of the booklet to learn all the words to your favorite artist? You’re still more than allowed to do that! Close the door and pick out your favorite album and drift into the sounds of each song. Feel free to sing and dance along!


Play Spa


Take time at home to actually use and enjoy all of those beauty products you’ve purchased over time. Start with an everything shower, then move on to skin care, nails, and finally make up. Try out some new looks or tricks you’ve seen online from different influencers. Don’t worry about being perfect, just have fun with it!
